Insurance & total-loss appraisals
Certified appraisers
Accepted in all 50 states and DC
Same-day available
The insurer's settlement offer comes from their valuation vendor. Yours should come from somewhere too. A certified, independent appraisal of your vehicle's actual cash value: the number the whole claim rests on. $300 flat, delivered in 24-48 hours.
A negotiation needs two numbers
When a claim goes sideways (a total-loss offer thousands under what the car would actually cost to replace, or a valuation report full of "comparables" from three states away), the fix isn't arguing feelings with an adjuster. It's putting a certified, documented actual-cash-value appraisal on the table: your vehicle, your options and condition, comparable sales from your actual market.
Many policies also contain an appraisal clause, a built-in mechanism for resolving valuation disputes where each side appoints an independent appraiser. We serve as that appraiser, and our reports are prepared for use there, in negotiation, or in court.

From lowball to leverage
Send the offer
Share the insurer's valuation report and your policy. We'll tell you on the phone whether there's real money in disputing it.
We document the vehicle
In Texas, inspection at the tow yard, shop, or your driveway. Everywhere else it runs online from your photos and documents. Either way: options, condition, mileage, and the local comparables the vendor report skipped.
You negotiate with numbers
Certified report in your inbox within 24-48 hours. You counter, or invoke the appraisal clause and let the process work. Either way, it's no longer your word against theirs.
Every total loss appraisal: $300, flat
$300 flat, whether we inspect the vehicle in Texas or work online from your photos and the insurer's valuation report. No hourly meter, no mileage fees. If the gap between their offer and reality is too small to be worth it, we'll tell you that on the first call. Repaired instead of totaled? That's a diminished value appraisal, also $300 flat.

Total-loss and dispute questions
[faq-start]
- What is actual cash value, exactly?
- What's the appraisal clause and should I invoke it?
- When is a car legally a total loss in Texas?
- Do insurers take independent appraisals seriously?
- Can I keep the car after a total loss?
- How fast can you turn it around?
- What your specific vehicle (options, mileage, condition, local market) would have sold for the day before the loss. Not the cheapest similar listing the vendor's software could find.
- A policy provision where you and the insurer each hire an independent appraiser, and disagreements go to an umpire. It's often the fastest route to resolving a valuation dispute, and we'll read your policy's version with you before you decide.
- In Texas, when the cost to repair reaches 100% of the vehicle's actual cash value. Which means both halves of that comparison are appraisal questions, and you're allowed to have your own answer to each. Other states run lower thresholds, from about 70% in Colorado up, or use total-loss formulas like Ohio's; confirm the current rule for your state.
- They negotiate against them every day; that's the point. A certified report with documented comparables changes the conversation from opinion to arithmetic. Whether a carrier agrees with your figure is still a negotiation.
- Usually, as owner-retained salvage: the insurer deducts the salvage value from your settlement, and the title gets branded. The appraisal matters twice there: once for the ACV, once for a fair salvage deduction.
- Certified reports are delivered in 24-48 hours, and same-day is often available when the car is on a storage clock at a tow yard. In-person inspection is same-day across the Houston metro most days; outside Texas the process is 100% online, so turnaround doesn't depend on travel at all.

Do bankruptcy courts require a professional appraisal?
Not always, but trustees can and do challenge unsupported values. A certified appraisal is the cheapest insurance against an objection that could cost far more in delays and fees.
